The Ruach Hakodesh Given to All Believers
Another stunning difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant has to do with the Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit.
In the Old Covenant, the Ruach HaKodesh was not given to all persons. In the Old Testament the Ruach HaKodesh was given only to certain people in special circumstances where G-d's work needed to be accomplished. The Ruach HaKodesh was never given to the masses of people in the Old Covenant. Not until after Messiah Yeshua's death and resurrection and his pending return to the Father was the Ruach HaKodesh given to all His followers. This first occurred at Pentecost in the Upper Room.
G-d declares in Numbers 11:17 that His Ruach HaKodesh would be upon Moses as he appointed the 70 elders to assist him. Bezaleel and Aholiab as craftsmen for items in the Tabernacle were empowered by the Ruach HaKodesh. In like manner, Elijah, Elisha, King David, Samuel, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah and others were all empowered by the Ruach HaKodesh. But never until Messiah Yeshua's promise to His Followers was the Ruach HaKodesh given openly to mankind.
The promise given by Yeshua that Believers in Him would be empowered by the Ruach HaKodesh can be found in John 14:15-18, John 14:26, John 15:26 and in John 16:13-14.
It was the Ruach HaKodesh that called you to a saving knowledge of Yeshua. He enlightens you and directs the path for your life. It is the Ruach HaKodesh that warns you when you are about to stray from G-d's Word. He guides, strengthens and encourages you. It is the job of the Ruach HaKodesh to Glorify Yeshua and to remind you of whom Yeshua is to be in your life.
